3.4) Inserting a Hyperlink

A hyperlink is used when you want a visitor to your website to click on either text or an Image on your website and to be taken somewhere else. We are now going to insert a hyperlink on both text and an image.

These are the simple steps to follow:

First select either your home page or about us and type the words ''contact us'' . See image below.

Next insert an Image below the text. Just to speed things up we are doing the text and image hyperlinking at the same time. If you do not have a suitable image then download this image

(Right click and save on your desktop to download)

Next open your website and click on the contact us link so that the contact us page is visible.

Now copy the URL of that specific page. (Each page on your website has an unique URL (Uniform Resource Locator)

You copy the URL by highlighting the whole URL, right click and then copy.

This is the Destination page, the page where we want someone to be taken when they click on our hyperlinks we are going to be creating

Now highlight the text, the words you typed. ''Contact us''. See image below. Then click op the Hyperlink Icon. When you hover over the Icon with the cursor the screen tip will pop up which says Insert / Edit Hyperlink.

The following popup will appear:

At the bottom where it says URL paste the URL you copied from the contact us page on your website. Either right click and click paste or press (Ctrl V) .

Next you need to click on apply. See image above.

Next we are going to repeat the exercise on the image. Click on Image. Be sure that you are using Mozilla Firefox. Then right click. See image below. A popup will appear. You can either click on the pop up icon or the top Insert / Edit Hyperlink Icon.

The next screen will pop up. Once again paste the URL of your contact us page (that on your actual website) where it says URL. See Image below.

You will then click on Apply. See Image above.

Scroll down and click on Update Home Page.

You will then need to publish the changes. See image above.

You then need to open your actual website. See Image above for the Icon. Or you can click on a new link or you can press control F5. Your website will reload and you should be able to see the changes.

Remember you need to have the two tabs open. (Your website and the back office or the management portal.)

And Viola !!! Your website should contain the new text and the new images , both upon which hyperlinks have been inserted. See Image below.

You can in this way hyperlink a person to anywhere you like. (On your website or to any other website.)
